Chancellor Schroeder, alongside President Chirac, urges for heart-felt, reasoned yes-vote and assures Franco-German link cannot be broken

Brussels, 26/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - At the Fifth Franco-German Council on 26 April in Paris, President Chirac and Chancellor Schroeder adopted a joint declaration whereby they welcome the fact that, for the first time in the history of the EU, the common destiny of Member States has been materialised in a Constitution. The declaration mainly stresses that the Constitution allows greater scope for European defence.
