Brussels, 21/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - At the end of two days' discussion in Geneva - behind closed doors and at experts' level on nuclear issues, the Head of the Iranian delegation, Cyrus Nasseri, said that negotiations between the EU3 (Germany, France and the United Kingdom) had progressed but explained that his country was maintaining the right to be able to enrich uranium. Mr Nasseri told AFP that it was possible that they were moving to a potential agreement but warned, “nonetheless, to say no to enrichment would mean blocking the whole process”. On Wednesday, the Iranian negotiator-in-chief on the nuclear dossier, Hassan Rohani, told Europeans that Tehran would put an end to discussions if they ruled out the proposals of resuming uranium enrichment activities in small quantities (EUROPE 8932). The meeting in London on 29 April with senior officials from the EU3 ministries of foreign affairs and Iran for examining last December's discussions could be decisive for continuing the negotiation process. At the end of March Tehran submitted a proposal to the Europeans to allow Iran to produce enriched uranium in small quantities via a centrifugal pilot project.
