14/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has cleared the proposed transaction for a common venture between the Dutch company Nutreco, whose activities relate to food for human and animal consumption and the Luxembourg company Stolt-Nielsen S.A. whose activities relate to transportation shish farming. The new company will become a market leader in salmon farming and sales in the European Economic Area but following the investigation, the Commission is not worried by competition problems. It illustrates that the European market is relatively fragments and vertical relations between Nutreco and the new company in the salmon farming feed market in the United Kingdom and Norway will not lead to any risk of other companies being excluded from the market.
