14/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - CSU member Joachim Wuermeling expressed concern at the risk that the European law community could be undone when the German constitutional court examines the constitutional suitability of the European arrest warrant this week. The court in Karlsruhe is to rule on the case involving the German-Syrian national, Mamoun Karkazanli (whose extradition to Spain had been requested for suspected membership of a terrorist organisation), but its verdict will naturally have serious consequences at European level. The German justice minister, Brigitte Zypries, defended the European arrest warrant on Wednesday before the court in Karlsruhe.
