16/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Czech Prime Minister, Stanislaw Gross, stated in an interview with Le Monde during his first official visit to France that “those who accuse us of social dumping are wrong”. Mr Gross stressed that in his country, the corporate tax rate is “average for Europe” and that “Slovakia, Poland and Hungary have lower rates”. He feels that “we are competitive for other reasons”: “certainly not” due to ecological dumping, “because we have extremely tight legislation”. In fact, he noted, “our competitive advantages are based on a good transport infrastructure- although incomplete- for the transit country we are. Our labour force is highly qualified, hard-working and learns quickly. Information exchange is well developed”.
