16/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the Commissioner in charge of enterprise and industry, Günter Verheugen, held discussions in Brussels with the US Secretary of State for trade, Carlos Gutierrez on measures for promoting economic growth and innovation into the US and EU economies. Verheugen and Gutierrez welcomed the contributions made by companies taking part in the “Trans-Atlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) in an effort to improve economic and trade relations between the EU and USA. “I look forward to working closely with Commissioner Verheugen on our joint efforts to advance the barrier-free trans-Atlantic marketplace, as supported by the TABD. We hope to have recommendations for joint action to deliver to President Bush and Barroso at the next US/EU summit this summer in Washington”.
