Brussels, 11/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - Charlie McCreevy “greatly regrets” that the Ecofin Council of 17 February does not plan to put the software patenting directive under the “A points” on their agenda, the Commissioner for the Internal Market's spokesperson indicated on Friday. The Commission is prepared to “find solutions” to the problems posed “as soon as the Council has made progress” on this dossier. On 17 February at the European Parliament, the Conference of Presidents will decide on the follow-up to give to the procedure launched by the Committee on Legal Affairs, which demanded a rethink in the first reading of the legislative procedure (see p.12). President Borrell is due to invite the Commission to present such a demand.
