01/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - Ahead of the meeting of donors to take place in Colombia on 3 and 4 February and to be attended by a high-level delegation from the Member States of the EU and the European Commission, Amnesty International stressed that any international aid must depend on Colombia's commitment to fulfil a number of conditions to find a solution to the armed conflict which has been raging for years. In particular, Amnesty feels that the EU should: -attend the meeting organised on 2 February by Alianza, a coalition of Colombian NGOs; reaffirm its support to the Bureau of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Colombia; reaffirm that it will not support any paramilitary-demobilisation process and will not enshrine any legislative process which does not take full account of the rights of victims to truth, justice and recompense.
