Brussels, 01/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - The High Representative of the EU for CFSP, Javier Solana, signed an agreement on Tuesday with the Moroccan ambassador Menouar Alem on Moroccan involvement in the EU's ALTHEA operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Morocco, which was already taking part in NATO's SFOR mission from which ALTHEA is to take over, will provide the EU mission with a contingent of 130 troops, according to a press release. This is the first time that Morocco has taken part in an EU military operation. Morocco is the only country from North Africa and the Barcelona Process to participate. Thirteen third countries are contributing to ALTHEA, which has been up and running since 2 December 2004.
