01/02/2005 (Agence Europe) - A cross-party group of MEPs belonging to the globalisation intergroup has launched a parliamentary bid for a “tsunami tax” to finance emergency aid to the countries of Asia hit by the tsunami as well as development aid. British Green member Caroline Lucas states in a press release that such a tax should be levied on international transfers of capital.
