31/01/2005 (Agence Europe) - During the EU/Tunisia Association Council (EUROPE 29 January p 10), the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH), the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) and the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) called on EU foreign affairs ministers to firmly raise the issue of freedom expression (including censure of modern means of communication” and “systematic practices of disinformation”, during their meeting with their Tunisian counterpart at the preparatory meeting in June 2004 in Hammamet at the world summit on information technology in Tunisia), as well as obstacles of freedom of association and meeting, attacks on human rights activists. They again called for the setting up as soon as possible of “a regular sub committee on human rights, as included in the action plan”.
