US giant MONSANTO is to acquire vegetable and fruit seed company SEMINIS (USD 526 mil turnover in 2004, workforce of 2900) for more than USD 1.4 bn. According to 2003 figures, between them MONSANTO-SEMINIS had seed sales of nearly USD 2.5 bn.
