13/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Next month the European Commission will make an appeal (13 January) against its condemnation by the WTO in the aid to European sugar producers system affair. Three countries instigated this complaint: Brazil; Thailand and Australia. They have given the EU a two month extension to appeal. This period should initially be concluded on 14 December. In mid-October, the European Commission announced its intention to appeal the WTO decision, which decreed that European exports since 1995 have superseded the 1995 limit of 1.273 million tonnes a year, which it had made a commitment to adhere to.
