Brussels, 10/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Year of Citizenship through Education will be launched in Sofia on 13/14 December by the Bulgarian science minister, Igor Damianov, and the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maud de Boer-Buquicchio. The Council of Europe will focus on children, young people and adult education to counter the trend whereby European citizen lose interest in Europe and in politics.
In a press release, the Council of Europe notes that the message it aims to send to the 800 million citizen of its 46 Member States is to learn living democracy.
