10/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Member states unanimously supported Pascal Lamy's candidature for the post of WTO Director General at a Coreper meeting on Thursday. On Tuesday the 133 Committee had already come out in favour of the ex-Trade Commissioner to succeeding Mr Supachai from 1 September 2005 (cf. EUROPE, 8 December, p.14). “We are particularly pleased that Europe has united behind a single candidate”, said a spokesman for Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson.
