Commission proposes new measures to limit fishing effort, especially in the North and Baltic Seas

Brussels, 06/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 8 December, the European Commission is set to adopt a proposal on total allowable catches (TACs) and quotas for 2005, together with new measures to limit fishing effort, especially in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea (temporary ban on cod fishing), in the western Channel (reductions of sole fishing days), and in the western Iberian Peninsula (reconstitution of hake, anglerfish and Norway lobster stocks).
