02/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - Two new members have joined the Socialist Group at the European Parliament, bringing its strength to 202, it is stated in a press release. The new members are two Polish MEPs, hitherto Non-Attached. They are: Bogdan Golik, a shipyard owner, and Wieslaw Stefan Kuc, a furniture production company manager. In a joint statement, the two MEPs state they "observed all of the groups for some time" before deciding that they would join the Socialist Group, especially "because of its social market economic programme". The two new members of the Group "accept the Social Democratic concept of a social market economy in Europe", the Socialist Group leader, Martin Schulz, commented (also noting that the companies of the two Polish MEPs have between them a workforce of almost 1,000).
