Parliament calls for arms embargo against China to be maintained - In favour of a more binding Code of Conduct

Strasbourg, 18/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted the report by Raül Romeva Rueda (Greens/EFA), calling on the Council to make the Code of Conduct on Arms Exports more binding. The Parliament makes this requirement a condition for possibly lifting the embargo on arms exports to China, which had been set in place in 1989 further to the Tienanmen Square massacre.
