United States welcomes EU's "excellent progress" towards control of movement of capital, but do not comment on threshold

Brussels, 17/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - Stuart Levey, American Under Secretary for the Treasury in charge of terrorism and financial intelligence, has welcomed as an "excellent step" the common position adopted on Tuesday by the Ecofin Council on controls on movements of cash on the borders, entering and leaving the European Union (see below).
