-Media: The parliamentary monitoring committee and the ministry of communications have approved the status of a new company, which will start up in mid-November, born of the merger between RAI SPA and RAI HOLDINGS. The new company, to be known as RAI RADIOTELEVISION, will be floated on the Milan stock exchange within four months. According to current estimations, the floatation of some 20% of the capital of Italian public television will bring the Italian State around a billion EUR. It is worth noting that the partial privatisation of Italian public television is enshrined in the Gasparri law of 2 December 2003. - Energy: ENEL has floated around 1.15 billion shares representing 16.4% of its capital. The Italian treasury, which holds around 50.629% of the capital of ENEL, stands to gain around 7.5 billion EUR. The definitive price of the public offering of shares, the biggest of the year in the whole of Europe according to the press, will be announced on 27 October.
