Brussels, 19/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - On a visit to Bucharest on 18 October the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Jean-Claude Trichet met the governor of the Central Bank of Romania, Mugar Isarescu and the Executive Board of the bank. According to a ECB press release, Trichet and Isarescu discussed future cooperation of the central banks and the central bank of Romania with a view to preparing the national Romanian bank to joining the Eurosystem when Romania joins the European Union. The press release explains that this cooperation will involve regular meetings between the two institutions at an Executive Board and expert level.
During his visit Jean-Claude Trichet also saw prime minister Adrian Nastase and the finance minister Mihai Tanasecu.
