Brussels, 15/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The constituent committee of the interim committee of the European Parliament on the political challenges and budgetary means of the enlarged Union was held on Thursday. Parliament President Josep Borrel will chair the work of the committee, tasked with fixing EP priorities for the 2007-2013 financial perspectives. "The Parliament thus emphasises the fact that it plans to give great attention to this dossier and that work by the interim committee will give important results", the Parliament president said. His nomination to this post is a clear sign to the other European institutions.
Reimer Böge (EPP-ED, Germany) has been appointed rapporteur, while the three vice-presidents are Terry Wynn (British Labour member), Gerardo Galeote (EPP-ED, Spain) and Dariusz Rosati (PES, Poland). The next meeting will be held on 20 October in Brussels. "The quality of decisions takes priority over the timetable for work", Mr Böge said on Thursday.
