11/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - UMP elected member Jacques Toubon states in a press release how pleased he is with the response received from the Commissioner-designate for the Internal market, Charlie McCreevy, to whom he had expressed during the parliamentary hearing his fears at seeing the future directive on services have an adverse effect on the European Television without Borders Directive. Mr Toubon notes that Mr McCreevy said the directive on services within the internal market will not be detrimental to the Television without Borders Directive and that he would make this clear again if needs be. Jacques Toubon hopes the EP, when taking a stance on the proposal for a directive, will explicitly provide for the film industry, television and audiovisual services in general to remain governed by the TV without borders directive and the other texts specific to this sector.
