Brussels, 05/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - August 2004 estimates illustrate an increase in industrial production prices compared to July. 0.4% in the Euro-zone and 0.5% in the EU 25. Compared to August 2003, prices rose respectively by 3.1% and 3.6%. compared to July 2004, energy prices experiences sharp rises with 1.4% in the Euro-zone and 1.8% in the EU25. Countries experiencing the highest rises were Hungary (+1.3%) and the United Kingdom (+1.1%), whereas the only reduction was in Ireland (-0.1%). Annual rhythm, prices throughout industry increased by 2.3% in the Euro-zone euro and by 2.4% in the EU25 (for energy 5.4% and 6.8% respectively). Increases were most marked in Hungary (8.9%), Czech Republic (+8,1%), Cyprus (+6.9%) and Belgium (+6.7%). A single fall was detected in Finland (-0.4%).
