23/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - According to Eurostat, orders in industrial order books was down by 0.6% in the euro zone in July 2004 compared to June, but up by 0.1% in the EU25. Compared to July 2003, orders have risen by 5.4% in the euro zone and by 6.2% in the EU25. Between June and July 2004, the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment has risen by 1.8% in the euro zone and by 2.8% in the EU25, and that of machines and equipment by 0.5% and 2.6% respectively. Among the 12 countries for which data are available, increases in Hungary (+4.1%), Denmark (+3.6%) and Germany (+3.3%) have been the greatest, but figures for Belgium (-10.7%), Portugal (-1.5%) and France (-1.2%) are down. Compared to July 2003, figures for Lithuania (+107.4%), Poland (+36.8%) and the Czech Republic (+25.4%) are rising considerably, but are down for Denmark (-15.4%), Latvia (-5.8%) and Portugal (-4.9%).
