07/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Last weekend, the Dutch EU Presidency published a statement from those responsible for the EU mission in Albania, expressing concern about the attack against a helicopter of the Italian national police force in Lazarat, on 18 August. During a surveillance flight over cannabis plantations, the helicopter was fired at by unidentified persons. "Those responsible for the mission consider the incident as a serious criminal act and insist on the fact that those responsible for such acts should be arrested and brought before justice", the Presidency declaration states. It goes on to call on the Albanian political class as a whole to give its unconditional support to combating organised crime and illegal trafficking.
