Brussels, 16.07.2004 (Agence Europe) - Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Bot will be visiting the Western Balkans from Wednesday 21 July to Friday 23 July. He will mainly visit Serbia and Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia Herzegovina. During this last part of the visit, the President-in-Office of the General Affairs/External Relations Council will attend the official inauguration of the famous Stari Most bridge, rebuilt in Mostar. The Dutch Presidency plans to underline with this visit the “close involvement of the European Union in the Western Balkans”. The evolution of the Stabilisation and Association Process will be the focus of Mr Bot's meetings with his various discussion partners. In Belgrade, on 21 and 22 July, he will meet President Maroviv of Serbia Montenegro and his Foreign Minister, Draskovic, Prime Minsiter Kostunica of Serbia and President Djukanovic of Montenegro. On 22 July, in Pristina, Mr Bot will meet with President Rugova and Prime Minister Rexhepi of Kosovo with the representatives of the Serb community of Kosovo and with Deputy UN Special Representative Brayshaw. In Tirana, on 22 and 23 July, the programme includes talks with Albanian prime Minister Nano, Foreign Minister Islami and the Minister for European Integration, Meksi. Mr Bot will then also meet representatives of the opposition and of the Albanian Foundation for Civil Society. Finally, on 23 July, Mr Bot will deliver a speech during the inauguration ceremony of the Stari Most bridge before meeting Prime Minister Terzic of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The European Commissioner for External Relations, Chris Patten, will also be in Bosnia-Herzegovina on 22 and 23 July. While there, he will meet Mr Terzic as well as the Foreign Minister, Ivanic, Security Minster Colak, and the director for European integration, Topcagic, and also the High Representative for the International Community, Lord Paddy Ashdown.
