Following an address by Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende before lunch, the EP will have a break to elect the Quaestors. In the afternoon, it will be addressed by the President designate of the European Commission, José Manuel Durao Barroso. There will then be a debate and the vote approving Barroso's appointment will be held on Thursday at 12: 30 hrs. This will be a secret ballot (using a ballot box), as for the elections of the EP Bureau.
