Brussels, 09/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - During its extraordinary meeting on Friday 9 July in Budapest, the "Various Interests" group of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) formalised the application of its president Anne-Marie Sigmund (who is in charge of European affairs at the Austrian federal committee of the liberal professions) for the presidency of the EESC, for which the ballot will be held at the plenary session of October 2004.
