07/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - US Secretary of State Colin Powell is disappointed by the slowness of the dismantling of Jewish settlement in Palestinian territory, indicates AFP. In a statement to the press, Powell said on Tuesday that following a meeting with his Israeli counterpart Silvan Shalom hat he had explained to the minister that they had been a little disappointed by the speed at which the settlements wee being dismantled and that the minister had reassured him that they were actively working on this. Out of the 28 illegal settlements prime minister Ariel Sharon had agreed to dismantle, 7 have been demolished and the inhabitants of a further 12 have been informed that they had to evacuate, AFP reported.
