Brussels, 10/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a resolution presented by Gerd Esser (DBB, Germany) on the quality of public services adopted on 27 May, the Association of Public Sector Trade Unions of the USSP/CESI (European Confederation of Independent Trade Unions) demands the preservation of "services as a stabilising element of a democratic European society and to continue to develop them".
The USSP/CESI also requested in the press statement: 1) maintain sufficient materials and personnel in order to safeguard their legal security, parity, neutrality and continuity of services; 2) recognition of public administration as a key location factor for companies. Its efficiency requires modern quality and human resource management; 3) access to public administration services at socially balanced prices has to be guarantee to all citizens; 4) pa y commensurate with job and performance, which makes employment in the public sector attractive.
