10/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Taking the view that the operation posed no serious threat to competition in any State of the European Economic Area, the Commission has just authorised the acquisition of Millennium Chemicals by Lyondell. Both of these American companies operate in the chemicals sector. Lyondell is also to acquire the whole of the petrochemicals company Equistar Chemical Company, previously jointly owned by the parties.
