27/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, calls on Europe and more especially on the European Union, to provide financial aid to the Minsk regime so that it may continue to fight against illegal migratory flows across the country toward Central Europe. "We are actively countering illegal migration, particularly efforts to criminalise western society. But we cannot do this free of charge. We are not a charity organisation", Mr Lukashenko said.
