Brussels, 14/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - A fortnight after the official enlargement of the EU, the European Disability Forum will, for the first time, hold its annual general assembly in Warsaw, Poland on 15-16 May. 200 representatives of persons with disabilities will be taking part, from 25 EU Member States, as well as form Bulgaria and Romania, Norway and Iceland. The meeting aims to examine the situation of the disabled in the ten new Member States but also to draw attention on the 45 million suffering from a disability who are also victims of social exclusion and discrimination. To enable the disabled to fully participate in society, they should be guaranteed equality of access to jobs, education, social welfare, healthcare, goods and services, culture, past-times and sport, insurance, transport and buildings, explains the EDF in a press statement (info: http://www.edf-feph.org ).
