16/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with this Friday's issue of the Moroccan weekly review Challenge, European Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy said, according to AFP, that the upcoming enlargement of the European Union was to Morocco's advantage because Morocco would have access to a bigger market under the same favourable terms. Lamy said we have brothers within the EU and cousins around the EU. He highlighted the need to extend democracy to the areas around Europe and hoped to see an updating of governance in Morocco. He said that the economy in Morocco was developing but was not growing fast enough. He said Morocco, which has seen growth of to % in recent years, could achieve growth 2 to 3% higher than that.
