15/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday Tilman Lueder, one of the spokespersons for European Commissioner Mario Monti, confirmed the article published in the Times of London, claiming that the Commission had received a complaint involving state aid received by the former British monopoly, the British telecom Group. The London daily indicated that the complaint came from the telecommunications service provider Vtesse Network. Lueder expalined that the complaint against BT focuses on tax breaks on property taxes. The latter also indicated that the Commission had sent the complaint to the British authorities which have to send on their initial comments by the end of the month. The Commission could possibly open an official investigation, depending on the content of this information, Lueder added.
