Brussels, 14/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - In a report published on Tuesday, Oxfam International accuses the EU of deliberately hiding the real cost of the common market organisation (CMO) for sugar to the detriment of the developing countries. According to Oxfam, EUR 819 million in export subsidies went to the benefit of a "cartel" of six large European companies in 2003, including Südzucker (Germany), British Sugar and Tate&Lyle (United Kingdom) and Béghin Say (France).
