Renewed optimism in Geneva on liberalisation of farm trade - Opinions differ over amount of European aid

Brussels, 29/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The 146 members of the WTO stressed in Geneva after one week of constructive discussion that they hoped to reactivate negotiations on the liberalisation of farm trade by the summer. Chaired by New Zealand Ambassador Tim Groser, the WTO committee on agricultural negotiation decided to meet again on four occasions before the August break with a view to coming to a framework agreement on the issue.
