Member States have until 30 March to decide whether to make politics out of case

Luxembourg, 26/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Member States have until 30 March to decided whether they want to turn the Stability and growth Pact case into a political affair by intervening in the "Commission versus Council" trial (for the suspension by the Ecofin Council of 25 November 2003 of the excessive deficit procedures against Germany and France: see EUROPE of 26 November, p.6). If they choose to abstain, the dossier will be a purely inter-institutional affair.
