Brussels, 27/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - During the EU/Uzbekistan Cooperation Council on Tuesday in Brussels, the EU launched a new stage in economic cooperation with this Central Asian Republic, under the TACIS programme. The new "deeper phase" of technical and economic aid is in line with the EU's overall strategy for Central Asia (approved in October 2002) as it links European aid, before all else, to strengthened regional cooperation in Uzbekistan with its neighbours in the region.
