Commission takes action against nine Member States for persistent violation of European directives on ambient air quality

Brussels, 26/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to continue infringement procedure against nine Member States which, despite several calls to order, persist in failing to comply with Community legislation on ambient air quality. "I call on Member States to speed up implementation of this legislation. Any delay exposes the population to an increased health risk linked to bad air quality", Margot Wallström, Environment Commissioner, said in a press release. The...
