Brussels, 16/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Friday the spokesperson for Budget Commissioner Michaele Schreyer lifted any doubt there was about the date on which the Commission would adopt its communication on EU financial perspectives after 2007 (EUROPE 15 January p 8). This will be 10 February in Strasbourg and according to Elisabeth Werner, in the afternoon or evening. this adjournment of the College's decision, initially planned for 25 January, will allow the Commission to more easily conform with the procedures demanded by the Parliament, that it is informed as a priority. It will be informed whatever the circumstances on 11 February, indicated Ms Werner, who explained that the adjournment decision was the result of consultation between the Commission, European Parliament and Council. The communication on the financial perspectives will then be presented during the first General Affairs Council after 11 February (in principle on 23-24 February).
