Brussels, 01/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council of Ministers of the EU adopted without debate on Friday a decision to extend the protocol for the fishing agreement signed between the Community and the Côte d'Ivoire, from 1 July 2003 to 30 June 2004. The EU's total financial contribution remains the same, 957,000 EUR per annum, and so do fishing opportunities for Community vessels. For tuna fishing: tuna seiners (18 French and 21 Spanish vessels), surface longliners (15 Spanish and 5 Portuguese boats), pole-and-line tuna vessels (7 French and 5 Spanish boats). For deep-sea fishing, Spain will be allowed an average gross registered tonnage (GRT) of 600 tonnes per month.
