10/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - MEP Olivier Duhamel asked the European Commission whether it plans in a future Eurobarometer survey to raise in a different way the question on which States are considered as a threat against peace. This question had caused quite a stir, especially in Israel (see EUROPE of 5 November, p.4). The French Socialist suggests that the Palestinian Authority should be added to the list and that the following question should be asked: "Taking each of the leaders of the following countries, who, in your opinion, is a threat, or not a threat, for world peace". Also, it would be interesting, in his view, to ask how much confidence each of the persons taking part in the survey places in his/her own people and in each of the other peoples that are to be studied.
