Brussels, 10/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - In statemate for two months, the negotiations over the Doha Development Agenda seem to be picking up speed after the Cancun setback, notes the Director General of the World Trade Organisation, Supachaï Panitchpakdi, in an interview with Reuters in China on Sunday. I believe we are in the process of rebuilding the dynamic. More and more countries are converging on the compromise document unveiled at the summit on 13 September as a basis on which we can pursue negotiations, he explained. Panitchpakdi refused to talke of a complete failure, collapse or fiasco with regard to the WTO's fifth ministerial summit, noting that they had experienced a few setbacks. He said he understood that some people needed time to think, warning that they shouldn't take too long.
