03/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, MEP Vincenzo Lavarra (Democratici di sinistra, Italy), Deputy Chairperson of the EP Committee on Agriculture, presented to the press the fifth edition of "Qoco - un fil d'huile dans l'assiette", the international competition for young cooks and chefs of the Mediterranean. Taking part were fourteen chefs of under 30 years of age from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Croatia, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia. They are to present dishes that are strictly of Mediterranean origin and that use extra-virgin olive oil, a press release states. The best young chef will be selected on 7 November by a jury of prestigious colleagues.
