Foodstuff and steel packaging industries welcome investigation into German recycling system

Brussels, 27/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - Representatives from the packaging and foodstuff industries welcome the European Commission decision to open an investigation into the German system for the recycling of bottles and cans (see EUROPE of 22 October, p.7).

In a press release, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging (Apeal) believes that the German system for deposits for recyclable, but not reusable packaging has significantly penalised operators in the packaging and...
