Ambassador Schnabel gives assurance that Washington wants strong European partner

Brussels, 13/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - Günter Schnabel, US Ambassador to the EU, said this weekend in Lisbon that America is not afraid of a more effective European Union but would rather welcome it. He was expressing the point of view of an "outsider" on the "somewhat tortured negotiations over a new Constitution".
