10/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - During a press conference in Rome on Tuesday, the president of the Italian Council, Silvio Berlusconi, announced that the EU Council Presidency hoped to promote a "Marshall Plan" of $5 billion over five years for the reconstruction of Palestine. He added that Italy would set the "example of generosity by being one of the top donor countries". He did not, however, state how much his country would be willing to contribute.
