04/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - Just three weeks from the decision that the Katsina Appeal Court is to make on 25 September in the case concerning Amina Lawal, the young Nigerian women found guilty of adultery and sentenced by an Islamic court to death by stoning, the European Commission reaffirms its opposition to the death sentence and to particularly cruel forms of execution. The Commission sincerely hopes Ms Lawal will be acquitted.
